CPUSE Update Settings Overview

These settings determine:

  • How frequently CPUSE needs to check for updates.

  • Whether to install the new CPUSE Deployment Agent automatically.

  • Which tests to perform when CPUSE installs a software package.

Configuring CPUSE Update Settings in Gaia Portal

Note - Some settings are available only in Gaia Clish.

With a web browser, connect to Gaia Portal at:

https://<IP address of Gaia Management Interface>

If you changed the default port of Gaia Portal from 443, then you must also enter it (https://<IP address>:<Port>).

Important - On Scalable Platforms (Maestro and Chassis), you must connect to the Gaia Portal of the applicable Security Group.

 In the left navigation tree, click Software Updates > Available Updates.

In the top left, click Update settings.

In the section General:

  1. Select Check for updates every and configure the applicable interval.

    Configures how frequently to check for new CPUSE Deployment Agent versions.

    Default status: Selected

    Default interval: 6 hours

    Note - The value 0 disables this feature.

  2. Select Automatically update Deployment Agent (recommended).

    Configures the CPUSE Deployment Agent to check for new CPUSE Deployment Agent versions.

In the section Self test to perform:

  1. Select Verify that primary Check Point Processes are running.

  2. You can select Verify that the initial gateway policy is installed.

    Configures the CPUSE Deployment Agent to check that the local security policy is installed successfully, after it installs a software package.

    Default status: Not selected

    Note - When selected, in rare cases this test may report a failure, even though the policy is installed.

  3. You can select Verify network link up.

    Configures the CPUSE Deployment Agent to check that the link is up on the configured interfaces, after it installs a software package.

    Default status: Not selected

    Note - When selected, in rare cases this test may report a failure, even though the link is up.

In the section Email notifications:

You see the recipient email to which the CPUSE Deployment Agent will send the enabled notifications.

To configure the email settings, in the left navigation tree, click System Management > Mail notification.

In the section Deployment Agent:

You see the CPUSE Deployment Agent build number and when it checked for a newer CPUSE Deployment Agent build.

You can click Update Deployment Agent to perform a manual update - see Updating the CPUSE Deployment Agent.

Click Save.

Configuring CPUSE Update Settings in Gaia Clish

Connect to the command line on the Gaia server.

Important - On Scalable Platforms (Maestro and Chassis), you must run the applicable commands in Gaia gClish of the applicable Security Group.

If your default shell is the Expert mode, then go to Gaia Clish:

clish

On Scalable Platforms, go to Gaia gClish:

Type gclish and press Enter.

If you enabled MDPS (sk138672) on the Security Gateway / Cluster Members / Scalable Platform, then go to the Management Plane:

set mdps environment mplane

Examine the current CPUSE settings:

show installer policy all

show installer mail-notifications <Email Address>

Configure the required CPUSE settings:

set installer policy <options>

set installer mail-notifications <Email Address> <options>

delete installer mail-notifications <Email Address>

Save the changes in the Gaia database:

save config

Note - On Scalable Platforms, the changes are saved automatically.

Examine the updated CPUSE settings:

show installer policy all

show installer mail-notifications <Email Address>
