Setting the Administratively DOWN State on First Join

Description

You can configure the Security Group to set a newly installed Security Group Member to be in the administratively DOWN state automatically.

The administrator can confirm that the Security Group Member is configured correctly before changing its state to UP.

Syntax

set cluster configuration high-availability down_on_first_join {0 | 1}

  • 0 - Do not enable the administratively DOWN state automatically on a new Security Group Member for the first join.

  • 1 - Enable the administratively DOWN state automatically on a new Security Group Member for the first join.

Procedure

Follow these steps to add a new Security Group Member to a Security Group in the administratively DOWN state:

Connect to the command line on the Security Group.

Log in.

If your default shell is the Expert mode (/bin/bash), then go to Gaia gClish:

gclish

Enable the administratively DOWN state automatically on a new Security Group Member for the first join:

set cluster configuration high-availability down_on_first_join 1

To disable, run the same command with the value 0 (zero).

Install a new Security Appliance.

Important - Do not run the Gaia First Time Configuration Wizard.

Add the new Security Appliance to the Security Group.

Make sure the Security Group Member configuration is correct.
