SmartConfig Recommendations

The SmartConfig Recommendations page helps administrators evaluate the current state of Email Security environment configurations and provides actionable recommendations to improve security posture, operational efficiency, and optimize their deployment.

Use Cases

SmartConfig Recommendations supports customers at different stages of their Email Security journey:

  • Newly onboarded customers who require guidance to configure Email Security according to recommended standards.

  • Smaller customers who do not have a dedicated Customer Success Manager (CSM) to review and validate their configuration.

  • Existing customers who may not perform quarterly reviews of their environment or adjust configurations as organizational requirements evolve.

  • Customers who have not yet adopted newly released features that can improve productivity and strengthen security posture.

Supported Capabilities

Administrators can use SmartConfig Recommendations to:

  • View the current configuration status of the Email Security environment.

  • Evaluate how effectively the Email Security product is configured.

  • Review recommendations that improve security and productivity posture and increase feature adoption.

  • Dismiss recommendations that are not applicable to their organization’s requirements.

  • Basic – Only minimal required features are enabled.

  • Good – Several recommended features from the recommendations list are enabled.

  • Excellent – Most recommended features from the recommendations list are enabled.

Reviewing Recommendations

Each recommendation is displayed as a recommendation card that provides a quick overview of the configuration improvement opportunity. The card includes the recommendation title, severity level, recommendation type (Security or Productivity), and a short description explaining the purpose and impact of the recommendation. This information helps administrators quickly identify configuration gaps, understand their priority, and take the appropriate action to improve the overall Email Security configuration posture.

Recommendations are sorted by severity level (Critical, High, and Medium) and by their assigned rank, as defined in the recommendations list (for both Security and Productivity types). See Recommendations List.

To configure or activate a recommendation, see Configuring or Activating a Recommendation.

To learn more about the recommendation, see Viewing Recommendation Details.

To dismiss a recommendation, see Dismissing a Recommendation.
