Shared Files from Unprotected Drives

In Google Drive and Office 365 SharePoint/OneDrive, files displayed in the Shared with me section are only references to files that other users shared with the user. The actual file remains stored in the owner's Google Drive, OneDrive, or SharePoint site.

If the owner's Google Drive, One Drive, or SharePoint site is not protected by the Email Security policy, the file is not automatically covered. This applies even when the file appears under a protected user's Shared with me view.

How Shared Files Are Scanned

Check Point Email Security can scan a shared file only when the file is accessible to the scanning engine.

For example, Email Security can scan the file when the sharing permission is set to: Anyone with the link can access

If the file is restricted to specific users, groups, or the owner's organization, Check Point Email Security cannot access and scan the file. To scan such a file, the owner's Drive, OneDrive, or SharePoint site must also be protected by the policy.
