Self Unlock

Self Unlock allows users to unlock their computers by scanning a QR code using their mobile device, without administrator intervention.

Notes -

  • Self Unlock is available only for Endpoint Security client for Windows version E86.60 and later.

  • For known limitations, see sk182795.

Use Case

A typical use case for Self Unlock is when the user cannot use their password to unlock their computer.

This occurs when:

  • The user cannot remember their password.

  • The user accidentally entered the incorrect password multiple times, and the Smart Pre-boot authorization was temporarily locked.

Using Self Unlock

To use Self Unlock, the user must enroll his mobile device and then scan the QR code.

  1. Enroll your mobile device (one time).

  2. Using the mobile device, scan the QR code to unlock the computer.

Enrolling Mobile Device

You can enroll your mobile device and use it to scan the QR code to unlock the computer.

To enroll your mobile device:

  1. Do one of these:

    • From the Full Disk Encryption Login page:

      1. Click Mobile Enrollment.

      2. Enter your password and click OK.

        The Mobile Enrollment page appears.

    • From the Endpoint Security client:

      Note - This option is available only for Endpoint Security Client for Windows version E88.40 and later.

      1. Open the Harmony Endpoint Security client and select Full Disk Encryption.

      2. Click Enroll mobile device.

        The Full Disk Encryption - Enroll the mobile device page appears.

  2. Enter your username and password and click Enroll.

    The system shows a QR code.

  3. Scan the QR code with your mobile device.

  4. Enter your organization's AD credentials on your mobile phone and click Submit.

  5. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the enrollment. If required, enable biometric or face ID recognition for the mobile device.

    The Enrollment Successful message appears on your mobile screen.

    Now, the mobile device is enrolled successfully.

Unlocking the computer using QR code

To unlock using Self Unlock:

  1. Using the enrolled mobile, scan the QR code displayed on the authentication page.

  2. On the mobile device, use the face ID or biometric to authenticate the login.

  3. Once validation is complete, the Smart Pre-boot authentication page shows the last login date and time. Click Continue.
