Limitations in the Breakout Mode

• Only Check Point branded CPAC-TR-40SR-QSFP-300m 40 GbE SR transceivers are supported for the breakout functionality.
• Only Short Range (SR) 10 GbE transceivers are supported on the peer device.

  Long Range (LR) transceivers have different optical characteristics that do not support breakout functionality.

• LED on the Falcon-40G is lit even if only one of the "child" interfaces is active.
• Certain ethtool commands and features may not be accessible for the "child" interfaces.
• While the ports generally act as separate interfaces when the Falcon-40G port is in breakout mode, there are key differences in certain physical behavior (such as LED), because all peers of the split interface are connected to a single transceiver.

  These limitations are primarily due to the specifics of how the optical signal supports the four 10 GbE transmit lanes and limitations on how much control of the originating transceiver is possible.
