Uninstalling a CPUSE Software Package from Gaia

After you install a CPUSE package, you can uninstall it.

Important:

  • You cannot uninstall a Major Version package.

  • You cannot uninstall a Gaia Fast Deployment package.

  • You cannot uninstall a Hotfix package, if you installed another Hotfix package on top of it (that requires the first Hotfix package).

    For example, if you installed a Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator package, and then installed a Hotfix that requires this Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator package, then you cannot uninstall this Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator package (unless first, you uninstall the Hotfix package).

Best Practice - After you uninstall a CPUSE package, delete it from the CPUSE package repository.

You can uninstall a CPUSE package in Gaia Portal or in Gaia Clish / Gaia gClish.

With a web browser, connect to Gaia Portal at:

https://<IP address of Gaia Management Interface>

If you changed the default port of Gaia Portal from 443, then you must also enter it (https://<IP address>:<Port>).

Important - On Scalable Platforms (Maestro and Chassis), you must connect to the Gaia Portal of the applicable Security Group.

 In the left navigation tree, click Software Updates > Available Updates.

Expand the applicable section:

  • Major Versions

  • Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Takes

  • Hotfix Packages

In the applicable row, click the 3-dot menu and click Uninstall.

  • For a Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator package, this action uninstalls only the last installed Take.

  • For a Hotfix package, this action uninstalls all previously installed Builds / Takes (removes all files).

Click Yes, revert to confirm.

Connect to the command line on the Gaia server.

Important - On Scalable Platforms (Maestro and Chassis), you must run the applicable commands in Gaia gClish of the applicable Security Group.

If your default shell is the Expert mode, then go to Gaia Clish:

clish

On Scalable Platforms, go to Gaia gClish:

Type gclish and press Enter.

If you enabled MDPS (sk138672) on the Security Gateway / Cluster Members / Scalable Platform, then go to the Management Plane:

set mdps environment mplane

Uninstall the required CPUSE package:

installer uninstall PRESS THE TAB KEY TO SEE ALL PACKAGES

installer uninstall <ID>

      [completely]

      [last-take]

      [not-interactive]

  • "<ID>" is the package number in the list.

  • No option

    Uninstalls the specified software package in the foreground (shows the progress on the screen).

  • installer uninstall <ID> completely

    Uninstalls all previously installed Builds / Takes of a Hotfix package (removes all files).

  • installer uninstall <ID> last-take

    Uninstalls only the last installed Take of the specified Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator package.

  • installer uninstall <ID> not-interactive

    Uninstalls the specified software package in the background.
