IBM Aspera - New Attachment Tool
Check Point has switched to a new attachment tool for our customers.
This tool has a transport technology that maximizes the speed while maintaining the highest security, regardless of file size, transfer distance and network conditions. (Based on IBM Aspera Connect)
Although this will be transparent to the users, the Firewall Administrators will need to allow outgoing traffic on ports TCP/33001 and UDP/33001 as we are utilizing IBM's patented FASP protocol (UDP port 33001) and add the IBM Aspera Connect browser extension to the Browser.
All users managing SRs with Check Point Support will be able to use this tool after following the steps below.

Q: What is the IBM Aspera Connect?

A: Support Certified Partners, User Center Support Contacts and User Center Administrators will be able to upload attachments to the Support Service Requests.
Q: What do I need to do in order to use the tool with best performance (Acceleration)?
A: Two actions needed:
1. Install the IBM Aspera Connect browser extension to your Browser.
2. Your Firewall should allow outgoing traffic on ports TCP/33001 and UDP/33001 to the below hosts/IPs.

Q: How do I allow ports TCP/33001 and UDP/33001 on the Firewall?
A: For instructions, click here
Q: What happens if I didn't allow ports TCP/33001 and UDP/33001 on my Firewall?
A: If you will not allow these ports on the Firewall, you will not enjoy the acceleration process, you will continue to upload/download the files but through HTTPS port.
Q: What happens if I didn't install the IBM Aspera Connect browser extension?
A: In case you didn't add this extension in advance, you will be prompted to add it prior to uploading the files, if you choose not to install it, you will continue to upload/download the files but through HTTPS port. (The file upload/download will not be accelerated).
Q: Which protocol does this Tool uses?
A: Aspera clients and servers are configured to use IBM patented FASP protocol.

Q: Does this also apply for Non-technical SRs or RMA SR?
A: The Tool applies to all Technical, Non-Technical and RMA SRs through the attachments tab in the SR.
Q: I am trying to download a file and I don't have permission, why?
A: If the file you are trying to download was uploaded by the customer, you do not have permission to download. Customers can only download files that were uploaded by TAC.
Q: I am trying to search for a file that was uploaded in an old SR and I can't find it, why?
A: Following GDPR, all files that were uploaded to Service Requests (SRs) that are closed more than 4 months will be deleted. If you need these files again please open a new SR with Check Point Support.
