Connect to the Lab Environment, review the preconfigured API settings for the demo scenarios.

From the Jump-Server , Login to Check Point Management Server via SSH ,

The session is saved in Mobaxterm: R81.20-Management-Server (admin).

  • Username – admin

  • Password – Cpwins1!

  • IP – 203.0.113.80

In the SSH session on the management server run the following command :

api status

Review the output – Check the following settings :

  1. API Settings – Accessibility

  2. API Settings – Automatic Start

  3. Overall API Status

Important - The Management server was preconfigured with following settings for the demo scenarios of this lab:

  1. Added a new user api_user with a password of vpn123.

  2. Added a new user cpx_user with a password of vpn123.

  3. Added a new tag “Web_Control”.

  4. API server to accept all IP addresses (The out of the box configuration of the API server is to allow local connections only).

Open R81.20 SmartConsole and review the preconfigured configurations :

  1. User Name : admin

  2. Password : Cpwins1!

Start with Manage & Settings :

  1. Check the new user under Permissions & AdministratorsAdministrators – Look for api_user:

  2. Check the API settings under Blades > Management API > Advanced Settings...
