Installing the Gaia Operating System on a Chassis

To install a clean Gaia Operating System on a 60000 / 40000 Appliance (Chassis), you can:

  • Restore your Chassis to Factory Defaults. This removes all configurations.

  • Perform a clean install of the supported Gaia image with a bootable USB device.

To reset a Chassis to factory defaults:

Important - This operation reverts the Chassis to the last Gaia that was installed using the Clean Install method.

Connect to the Chassis using the serial console.

Restart the Chassis.

During boot, when prompted, press any key within 4 seconds to enter the Boot menu:

Press any key to see the boot menu [Booting in 5 seconds]

Select Reset to factory defaults and press Enter.

Type yes and press Enter.

Run the Gaia First Time Configuration Wizard.

Download the Gaia Operating System Clean Install ISO file from the R80.20SP Home Page SK.

See sk65205 to create a bootable USB device.

Important - Always use the latest available build of the ISOmorphic Tool. If you use an outdated build, the installation can fail.

Insert the bootable USB device into each SGM.

When the SGM boots from the USB device, select the option 41000, 44000, 61000, 64000.

After Gaia is installed on all SGMs, connect to the chassis and run the Gaia First Time Configuration Wizard.
