Configuring the Application Control and URL Filtering Software Blades for Monitor Mode

Configure the settings below, if you enabled Application ControlClosed Check Point Software Blade on a Security Gateway that allows granular control over specific web-enabled applications by using deep packet inspection. Acronym: APPI. or URL FilteringClosed Check Point Software Blade on a Security Gateway that allows granular control over which web sites can be accessed by a given group of users, computers or networks. Acronym: URLF. Software BladeClosed Specific security solution (module): (1) On a Security Gateway, each Software Blade inspects specific characteristics of the traffic (2) On a Management Server, each Software Blade enables different management capabilities. on the Security GroupClosed A logical group of Security Gateway Modules that provides Active/Active cluster functionality. A Security Group can contain one or more Security Gateway Modules. Security Groups work separately and independently from each other. To the production networks, a Security Group appears a single Security Gateway. in Monitor Mode:

Connect with SmartConsoleClosed Check Point GUI application used to manage a Check Point environment - configure Security Policies, configure devices, monitor products and events, install updates, and so on. to the Security Management ServerClosed Dedicated Check Point server that runs Check Point software to manage the objects and policies in a Check Point environment within a single management Domain. Synonym: Single-Domain Security Management Server. or Domain Management ServerClosed Check Point Single-Domain Security Management Server or a Multi-Domain Security Management Server. that manages this Security Group.

From the left navigation panel, click Manage & Settings > Blades.

In the Application Control & URL Filtering section, click Advanced Settings.

The Application Control & URL Filtering Settings window opens.

On the General page:

  • In the Fail mode section, select Allow all requests (fail-open).

  • In the URL Filtering section, select Categorize HTTPS websites.

On the Check Point online web service page:

  • In the Website categorization mode section, select Background.

  • Select Categorize social networking widgets.

Click OK to close the Application Control & URL Filtering Settings window.

Install the Access Control Policy on the Security GatewayClosed Dedicated Check Point server that runs Check Point software to inspect traffic and enforce Security Policies for connected network resources. object.
