Security Gateway Module (SGM)
Problem An SGM does not detect part of its RAM.
Cause One or more DIMMs are not correctly installed.
Resolution Re-assemble DIMMs in problematic SGM.
Validation Run asg resource to make sure all SGMs correctly report their RAM sizes
Problem An SGM fails to boot and does not enter BIOS.
Cause SGM BIOS is corrupted.
Resolution CMOS reset:
- Pull out the yellow jumper on the left side of the SGM.
- Put it on pins 2 and 3.
- Leave it in for 10 seconds.
- Pull the jumper out and put it on pins 1 and 2.
Validation SGM starts to load and you can enter BIOS.
Problem An SGM fails to start, and the SSD not detected at boot time.
Cause The SSD is not correctly assembled.
Resolution
- Re-assemble SSD connectors.
- Attach 1 connector to the SSD itself and the other 2 connectors to the motherboard.
Validation SGM starts to load.
Problem An SGM fails to boot and constantly searches for network installation (PXE).
Cause There is no image loaded on the SGM
Resolution
- Install image from CD/PXE or USB flash drive.
- Make sure BIOS setup is set to boot from the option you chose.
Validation SGM installs the new image.
Problem The blue LED is on.
Cause An SGM is not correctly attached to its slot.
Resolution
- Re-seat the SGM.
- Tighten its thumb screws
- Make sure the handles are firmly closed.
Validation Blue LED disappears and the SGM starts to load.
Problem SGM speed LEDs are not yellow or orange.
Cause The SGM is connected to SSM at the incorrect speed.
Resolution
- Restore manufacturing-defaults on the related SSM.
- RMA the SGM.
Validation Make sure that all speed LEDs on SGM are yellow or orange
Problem An SGM constantly boots after it was DOWN and major configuration changes were made to the system.
Cause Old configuration conflicts with existing configuration.
Resolution
- Export snapshots from both problematic and stable SGMs
- Attach them to the support ticket.
- Make sure the FCD image is aligned with existing SGMs.
|
Note - An FCD is created during a clean installation.
|
- Revert to the FCD image.
Validation The SGM joins the security group, pulls the configuration and becomes UP.
Problem CPU type does not match customer's order. CPU type test fails in asg diag.
Cause You received the SGM220 instead of the SGM220T, or vice versa.
Resolution RMA the SGM
Validation N/A
Problem All SGMs after some time fail to boot. The blue LED lights up.
Cause Some power supply units are not connected. A minimum of 4 PSUs is required for a fully populated system.
Resolution Make sure that all PSUs are correctly attached to the Chassis by pushing the insertion latch. Make sure that all power cords are plugged in.
Validation All SGMs in the Chassis can start.
