Introduction
Check Point Quantum SD-WAN Observability is a modern, open-ecosystem observability solution that brings together multiple advanced approaches to monitoring and operating the SD-WAN network.
The Grafana dashboards described in this document represent one powerful option - delivering rich, real-time visibility into underlay and overlay health, link experience (QoE and MOS), gateway status, and VPN tunnel continuity, built on Skyline as the underlying infrastructure, and providing a centralized view with intuitive drilldowns from a global overview to specific gateways, links, tunnels, or steering objects.
This document describes the Quantum SD-WAN Observability dashboards in Grafana and explains how to deploy, configure, and use them for day-to-day monitoring and troubleshooting.
This document covers both the Underlay SD-WAN and Overlay SD-WAN dashboards, the variables and widgets used in each view, the MAP integration, and the optional alert rules that can be imported into Grafana.
An optional Infinity data source plugin is used to enrich the dashboards with geographical information so you can visualize your Security Gateways on a MAP.
The observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, and the Infinity plugin) can run in these ways:
-
On-premises in your data center
-
In your private cloud
-
As a Grafana Cloud service
In all deployment models, the goal is the same: to provide a single, consolidated view of SD-WAN underlay and overlay health, link QoE and MOS scores, status of Security Gateways, and status of VPN tunnels, with the ability to drill down from a global overview into a single Security Gateway, ISP link, VPN tunnel, or steering object.
The following chapters walk through the required configuration steps and enabling alert rules for proactive notifications.
