Replacing an AC Power Adapter in 3000 Appliances

The 3100, 3200, 3600, and 3800 appliances have an AC power adapter. If necessary, you can replace it.

Important - Make sure you are electromagnetically grounded before you install, uninstall, or replace a power adapter if it is installed in a rack. ESD (electrostatic discharge) can damage the appliance.

In 3100/3200 appliances - Install the power adapter retaining clip to avoid accidental power cord removal.

In 3600/3800 appliances - Push in the power plug, then screw in the adapter cable. When the LED is green, power is switched on.

Removing an AC Power Adapter

Before you remove a power adapter, we recommend that you make sure that the appliance is shutdown.

To remove a power adapter in 3100/3200 appliances:

  1. Lift the retaining clip that secures the power adapter cord.

  1. Remove the power adapter cord from the appliance.

  2. Disconnect the electrical outlet power cord from the AC adapter.

To remove a power adapter in 3600/3800 appliances:

  1. Unscrew the adapter cable.

  2. Pull out the power plug.

  3. Disconnect the electrical outlet power cord from the AC adapter.

Installing an AC Power Adapter

To install a replacement power adapter in 3100/3200 appliances:

  1. Insert the power adapter cord into the power outlet on the appliance.

  1. Push the power adapter cord into the power outlet until it is secured.

  2. Lower the retaining clip to secure the power adapter cord.

  1. Attach the electrical outlet power cord to the AC adapter.

  2. Insert the power cord into an electrical outlet.

  3. Make sure that the system power LED on the front panel is illuminated.

To install a replacement power adapter or additional power adapter in 3600/3800 appliances:

  1. Push in the power plug and then screw in the adapter cable.

  2. Insert the power cord into an electrical outlet.

  3. When the LED is green, power is switched on.
